About Us

National Miss American Coed Pageants encourage and reinforce the confidence and natural beauty that is within each girl. That's why you'll never find any make-up on a Miss American Coed pageant participant under age 13 during our required competitions. We've never had it and we never will. Likewise, the clothing and onstage presentations are age-appropriate.

This is your invitation to enter the Miss American Coed, Teen, Junior Teen, Preteen, Sweetheart or Princess pageant in your state. Just think of the excitement and glamour as you walk across the stage in your beautiful evening gown with the spotlight and applause all for you! State winners and runner's up will have an opportunity to compete in the National Miss American Coed Pageant at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL!

You could be crowned the next National Miss American Coed Queen!

Since 1983 Miss American Coed Pageants have been the country's most popular pageants for girls for a reason: the events are family-oriented and age-appropriate. You'll find that many of the participants, and winners, in our pageants have never competed in a pageant before! Through fun rehearsals and activities on pageant weekend each contestant will gain a new sense of self-esteem, teamwork, and appreciation for her family.

The National Miss American Coed Pageant helps each girl develop poise, self-confidence and the ability to express herself while striving to reinforce the teachings of her home, school, and church; and at the same time giving her a chance to fulfill one of her most glamorous dreams...to be in a state pageant! Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?
There are several ways to apply. Apply online, fill out the online application, and pay the $25 application via PayPal.  You can also print out the online application, fill it out, and mail it it in to 21 Inwood Ave. Colonia, NJ 07067, along with a check or money order made payable to: Tami Charles Productions, LLC. Lastly, you can request that an application be mailed to your home address. (via email)

What if I miss the deadline or don't know when it is?
If you would like to request an extension for a deadline, all you have to do is call or email our office and a pageant representative will be happy to help you whenever is possible.

What is a "Sponsor Fee" and how much is it?
As will be shown in the brochures that will be sent to you, the total sponsor fee is $350 and can be broken up into two payments. The sponsor fee pays for the cost of producing the pageant, awards, choreographers, emcees, lighting, sound, staging, judges expenses, staff, florists, venue rental, trophies, cash awards, scholarships, office support and all of the many other things that go together to make a first class event. You may have as many or as few sponsors as you wish contributing to make up your total sponsor fee of $350. Any combination of businesses, family, friends, or anyone is acceptable. Neither the number nor names of your sponsors have bearing on the scoring in any way.

Do I need to go to any other functions or take a modeling/grooming course?
No. All required pageant activities will take place on pageant weekend at the pageant location. All preparation can be learned easily in the comfort of your home. Everything that you need for preparation will be in your newsletters.

Do I have to be "beautiful", "thin", or have perfect teeth to have a chance to win?
No. The American Coed Pageants, while glamorous events, are NOT known as Beauty Pageants. We pride ourselves on being a scholarship program offering and awarding over $20,000 each year to contestants in various areas of competition. The judges are scoring contestants on where you are in life, just the way you are. What you need to concentrate on is just doing your best and remembering to be positive.

What will I need to learn and do at the pageant?
Most of the pageant weekend you will participate in fun rehearsals and you learn the skills to successfully participate in the pageant. Basic stage modeling, using a microphone, public speaking and interviewing are examples of activities that you will have the opportunity to master while rehearsing at the pageant.

Do girls wear makeup and frilly dresses?
First of all the pageant is broken down into different age divisions. If you are under 12 - or in the Preteen, Sweetheart or Princess category - you are not allowed to wear makeup. Our pageant is looking for an All American and All Natural representative. If you are over 13 - or in the Junior Teen, Teen or Coed category - you are permitted to wear age appropriate makeup. We encourage all girls in all divisions to wear outfits that show off personality and their own individuality. We do have some rules on clothing which are specified in your material that will be sent in the mail, however, generally speaking we want you to wear what you feel most beautiful and confident in.

When/Where is the next pageant?

The 2010 pageant will be held August 20-22 at the Framingham Sheraton Hotel in Framingham, MA

Is previous pageant experience required?

No, many of our contestants are new to pageants! Anyone can win without having pageant experience. Our staff will provide you with all the information and help you need to do your best on pageant weekend. First time contestants often become wonderful winners!

What color does my evening gown have to be?

It's a new year, it's a new Coed! The days of white-only, poofy dresses are over! Color does not matter- style does! So long as YOU feel confident and beautiful in your dress, you will shine onstage. You will know that it's the perfect dress for you, the minute you put it on.  We do ask, however, that your dress is long and age appropriate. Choose a dress that fits your body type; A-line, slim-fit, mermaid, whatever works for you! We often find that the younger contestants (Princess, Sweetheart, Pre-Teen) wear an A-line or "poofy" dresses, which is fine. The older girls, however, (Junior Teen, Teen, and Coeds) have more flexibility in their choices. Happy shopping! (If you want our opinion on your dress, simply email us a picture at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  and we will be happy to help!)

Are the interviews done one-on-one?

Yes. You will enter the room with about four other contestants. One by one each of you will step forward to state your 20 second personal introduction. Then you will be directed to meet with the judges one on one. You will rotate until you meet and talk with each of the judges. Your questions for the interview will be about you! Be prepared to talk about whatever you put on your application. Most questions are about your hobbies, afterschool activities, goals, etc...It's a piece of cake!

Is there a swimsuit competition?

No!!! But there is a lovely pool right in the hotel for you and whole family to enjoy! Our main segments of competition are: eveningwear, interview and personal introduction.

Past Contestant from way back when

I was a contestant in the Miss American Coed Pageant back in 1986. It is so great to see that this is still running. I would love for my daughter to one day have the chance to take part in a pageant. Is it possible that there might be an archives of the past pageants since 1983?
Cris-Annette (Roy) Nicholas , March 08, 2010
I have a question or two.
0
Hi there. I want to first thank you for having a pageant that allows inner beauty to shine first, and show that make up and fake teeth, and all the glitz and glamor are not necessary to have fun at a pageant. Thank you for that. Growing up and wanting to do pageants my self, but never doing them, all I knew was the big hair, makeup and all that. Thank you for changing that world.

With that said I do have a question. Even though a pageant isn't something that we could afford this year, but maybe next year, I was wondering how you felt about an autistic child doing one of your pageants. My daughter is 4 now, and even though she can talk, and is getting better at speaking, I think that it's something that could help my daughter break out a little more from her self, allowing her to see new things and new opportunities. I am asking this because I am afraid that she may not be able to handle the interview section of your pageant. It would be nice to know these things ahead of time so that we may possibly do this next year.
Thank you for your time. And again, thank you so much for having a natural beauty pageant. I don't believe 4 year olds should wear make up unless its got glitter in it and it came with a barbie doll. smilies/smiley.gif

Thank you again,
Sincerely,
Tiffanie Taylor

My Thoughts

Hi Tiffanie. Thank you so much for visiting our website. As far as your daughter is concerned regarding her autism, I don't believe that this would be something to hold her back. Speaking from experience, I have been a public school teacher for 9 years and I have dealt specifically with that population. One thing I have learned is that what we may deem handicaps can blossom into potential and strong capabilities. If this is something that you would like your daughter to be a part of, I welcome you with open arms. Feel free to email or call me if you would like to speak further.

What are the ages for each category? This looks like such a great pageant! I love that it's all about being yourself. Now a days it's hard to believe that with everything going on.
Thank you

Questions

Hello
My daughter is 10 years old and we are very new to pageants. I was wondering if you could give a breakdown of what the $350.00 covers. I know it all goes towards overall cost and production of the pageant but what does it specifically cover for each girl? I was also wondering what other costs are involved? I see that there is an opening number is there a cost associated with the outfit?
Thank You,
Andrea
